When I told the organizer that I could provide needles for my students to try (classes start tonight!), she said: Are you sure you'll have enough.
Um, yes. Behold my 10-odd pairs of straight size 7 and 8 needles!!! The circs and dpns are already packed.
Have you amassed a kind of obnoxious number of needles? I don't think I need that many, but I can't bring myself to part with any.

I don't even use straights anymore, I use circulars for everything and I have tons of those. I have a bunch of straights but I keep them in a pretty vase just for display, like a needle bouquet. I do use DPNs for socks though.
yes! i have a bunch of straights from a close family friend that i'll never use and i just can't part with. as for needles i use, i'm big on interchangeables so i have a few extras in the sizes i use most frequently and the same goes for my sock needle collection, but as I've organized my needles, I've slowed down the acquisition rate.
I didn't think I had purchased that many but somehow when I put them away they seem to multiply like bunnies!

I only started knitting a few months ago but already I have quite a few sets of needles - some DPN in varying sizes, a set of interchangeable circulars, a few pairs of straights, and some regular circulars. I keep them locked in a small trunk because being bamboo one of our dogs thinks they'd be fun to chew on. Already had to replace one set from that!
