Plain Black Skirt

Gym selfie, again. I know.

This is Stretch & Sew 445, shortened quite a bit because I am short and I wanted it to hit around my knee and not mid-calf. It's a real workhorse pattern. There's probably a way to make the encased elastic waistband less bulky, but it doesn't bother me the way it is.

Poppy Panel Skirt

Yes, this selfie is at the gym because I don't have a full-length mirror with good light at home. I should probably change that, at some point.

I saw this panel print poplin on Marcy Tilton's website and I knew I just had. to. have. it.

I had Butterick's 5466 skirt pattern, so I decided to try view B with this fantastic print.

LOVE IT!

I'm now tempted to try to find some fabric the same color as the hot pink in the poppies to make a top. It would have to be a perfect match to work, so we'll see if I ever manage it. I think white would also look good.

Skirt!

The fabric was so thin that I had to line it. I cut the lining out sideways, so it kind of puckers on my tummy, but I tend to wear my shirts untucked, anyway! I love it!

A Skirt Pour Moi

Chevron!

The messy thing is the scrap I use to test my settings.

After I started sewing a skirt for myself, my coworkers were all like, um, maybe a really thin knit fabric isn't the best third sewing project? What can I say, I like to live on the edge. Also, I didn't know any better.

My Singer 328K is designed to take two sewing needles, when you want it to. It seems like the natural choice for hemming, and even sewing, most knits. It also gives me two chances, instead of just one, to install a sewing needle backwards, so that adds a little more excitement and mystery when things aren't going all that well.

Wrap Skirt Pattern and Sleepy Boomer

I'm trying a pattern/plan for a half-circle wrap skirt. Boomer is not impressed. He thinks the whole thing is pretty soporific.
