I finally had to drag out my nifty not-black sock darning egg to darn a BUNCH of black socks.
I don't love darning, but I did manage to fix up 6 pairs of socks to live another day in about 2 hours - which is way faster than I can knit!
There are at least two or three methods of darning socks that I know. I tried them all. When I see how well each one wears, I'll probably get around to telling you about it.
Now, off to wash them all...
Did you try the "knit a patch directly onto the sock" method? I find it faster than duplicate stitch, the other method I've tried. It would be cool if you blogged your techniques. They aren't in your book? TIA
ReplyDeleteI am very interested in any good "beginner" darning method! My first heel has worn out and I put a lot of work into this pair of socks! Looking forward to the class at the Twisted Loop at the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteI knit a patch, Swiss darned and made a little woven patch. These methods aren't in my book.
